LOS ANGELES—Viceroy Hotel Group (VHG) has opened Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai, a 16-story hotel designed by Yabu Pushelberg and NAO Taniyama and Associates. This marks the hospitality group’s second foray into the UAE, as well as the next step of VHG’s aggressive growth strategy over the next few years, with forthcoming properties slated for Argentina, Chicago, Colombia, Panama, Portugal and Turkey.
The hotel features a glass cube structure that seemingly floats in front of the hotel, according to the company, allowing natural light to flood in and provides a direct view through to the resort’s pool, the ocean and beyond. The 477-key hotel, including 352 guestrooms, 85 suites and 40 hotel apartments, features clean lines and natural materials. Design elements include a palette of neutral colors alongside Viceroy’s signature teal, with brushed bronze finishes; light and dark wood contrasts with layers of marble, with a recurring honeycomb hexagonal pattern runs throughout; and contemporary furniture and rich fabrics that contrast with Greek and Italian marbled bathrooms, featuring hand cut mosaic tiling and bronze sculptured standalone bath tubs.
It is home to eight food and beverage outlets: BLVD on One, a global brasserie led by executive chef Robert Nilsson. Elevate, the 13th floor’s wine bar; Maiden Shanghai, featuring a contemporary, authentic Chinese menu with Cantonese, Sichuan, Shanghai and Beijing influences; Quattro Passi from and two Michelin-starred chef Antonio Mellino; The Beach Club; The Delisserie, a neighborhood cafe with light meals such as Danish open-faced sandwiches and modern high tea; the Lobby Lounge for morning coffee, afternoon tea and light meals; and The Pool Bar.
The spa evokes the rolling Arabian sand dunes and golden beaches of Santa Monica, according to the company. Amenities include 14 treatment rooms and four open-air cabanas alongside a hammam, spa pool, relaxation lounge, Spa Cafe, fully equipped gym with the Artis Collection from Techonogym, personal training services and well-being sessions.
Suspended on the 14th floor and featuring views across the Arabian Gulf is Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai’s Vista Ballroom. Three fully equipped meeting rooms offer views toward the coastline and Burj Al Arab.
The hotel also offers Generation V, a kids’ club, as well as a dedicated children’s pool and babysitting services.
