Vail Resorts Shares Hit High, Close Down

VAIL, CO Shares for Vail Resorts climbed to new heights on November 7 as the company released an earnings report that indicated a 7% increase in revenue. The company announced that its first quarter total revenue, including both resort and real estate operations, climbed to $70.4 million against $65.8 million in the prior year period. Net loss for the quarter was $21.2 million, or $0.61 per share, down from $22.4 million or $0.64 per share in the first quarter of 2000. The first call consensus was looking for a $0.64 loss per share. The company s shares initially experienced a big lift from the news, but ended up closing down $0.38 to $22.06.
