WASHINGTON, DC According to research from the Travel Industry Association of America (TIA), 16% of travelers, or 2.6 million U.S. adults, have given a full trip, or part of a trip, such as airfare, as a gift within the past three years. And approximately 11% of travelers gave the gift of travel within the past year. People who give travel as a gift are likely to be college graduates (49%), have a professional or managerial occupation (33%), and have a higher annual household income ($86,000). They are also less likely to have children in their household (39%). On average, most travel gift-givers are 45 years old and 68% are married. (12/19/00)
