El San Juan Hotel

INTERNATIONAL REPORT—Rebranding and redevelopment plans are underway for properties under new ownership or management. Here’s a look:

Fairmont to Rebrand El San Juan Hotel

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and ESJ Resort LLC signed an agreement for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts to assume the management of El San Juan Hotel, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The property will join the Fairmont portfolio of luxury hotels as Fairmont El San Juan Hotel.

The hotel has 388 guestrooms, suites, and poolside and oceanfront villas; the full-service Well & Being spa and fitness center; four pools with swim-up bars and luxury cabanas; a pro-level tennis court; watersport rentals including jet skis, banana boats and parasailing; and 13 food and beverage venues.

Quality Inn Clearwater Beach Begins Renovation, Rebranding

The Quality Inn beachfront hotel, located at 655 S. Gulfview Blvd., is currently undergoing a complete transformation and will relaunch in the spring as Dolphin Sands Beach Club. The new hotel will become part of Choice Hotels’ upscale Ascend Collection, which features historic, boutique and distinctive hotels that reflect the cultural fabric of their communities.

Dolphin Sands Beach Club boasts a premier location on the south end of Clearwater Beach next to the Hampton Inn and Suites, affording easy access to the area’s top attractions, including the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. The five-floor beachfront hotel features 91 rooms and suites and offers guests an outdoor heated pool, sundeck, beach cabanas, private balconies, free WiFi, a full-service restaurant and tiki bar, and direct access to the beach.

The property is owned by Page Development Group, and will be managed by McKibbon Hospitality of Tampa, FL. Sebring, FL-based Taylor Construction is serving as the project’s general contractor.

Rebranding, Redevelopment Set for Spring Lake Golf Resort

Signature H Property Group, which purchased the Spring Lake Golf Resort in November 2019, revealed it is rebranding the resort to Sebring International Golf Resort.

“We believe the new branding will embolden the property as the premier golf resort in Sebring, while broadening its exposure to U.S. and international markets,” said Helmut Wyzisk III, president of Signature H. “This is the first step of a comprehensive plan to revitalize and reposition the resort.”

Signature H Property Group, the parent company to New Spring Lake Partners, formed a strategic partnership with Xude Hospitality, led by golf industry veterans Mike Miraglia and Jerry Moore, to manage resort operations. Plans for redevelopment include the transformation of two existing 18-hole golf courses into one 27-hole Steve Smyers-designed championship course, which will take place in phases over the next two summers. The property will also have a 12-hole short course, which is currently under construction and opening this year.
