INTERNATIONAL REPORT—Hotels in development across Europe include a sustainability-focused resort in Croatia; the third Rosewood property in Italy; and a boutique property on London’s West End.
Maslina Resort
Maslina Resort, a sustainability-focused luxury boutique resort, is opening on Croatia’s Hvar Island on Aug. 10. Offering 33 rooms, 17 suites and three villas, it features interior design by LA.M Studio inspired by the four elements of nature.
All rooms will have indoor and outdoor spaces with specially designed extended loggias and views of the Adriatic Sea, while eight resort suites will offer a private heated plunge pool. There will also be four- and five-bedroom villas located along the seashore with private heated infinity pools and full, restaurant-quality kitchens.
The resort will also feature a natural beach, and heated infinity and family pools, as well as a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant, beach bar and organic garden. Other amenities will include a Pharomatiq Spa, a library, the Wine & Culture Club and a kid’s playroom.
Sustainability efforts include natural and local materials used throughout the project; a built-in modern heat recovery system; natural green roofs; ventilation designed to reduce the use of A/C including sensors for the windows; non-chlorinated pools; an organic garden; certified organic linen; and biodegradable options for slippers, straws and disposable underwear for spa treatments.
Rosewood Porto Cervo
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has been appointed by Quianto Capital Limited to manage Rosewood Porto Cervo, which will open on the Italian island of Sardinia in 2022. It will join sister properties in Tuscany and Venice as the group’s third opening in Italy.
The resort will be located in Costa Smeralda, known for its white sand beaches and turquoise water. The three-story property will feature 65 guestrooms, including 26 suites, all with 180-degree ocean views of the Mediterranean Sea.
Four versatile dining venues will be offered, as well as a beach club, a spa, a fitness center and a youth club.
The Londoner
The Londoner, a boutique hotel opening in Leicester Square in the West End of London, will delay its original summer 2020 opening due to the ongoing impact of the coronavirus. The 16-story hotel is now expected to open early next year. It is the latest project from Edwardian Hotels London.
The revised timeline is due in part to coronavirus-related restrictions, which have led to a reduced number of construction workers on-site.
The new-build hotel, a member of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Legend Collection, will offer interiors by Yabu Pushelberg and architecture by Woods Bagot. It will have 350 guestrooms, suites and a tower penthouse with panoramic views; two private screening rooms; six F&B establishments; a ballroom and multiple meeting spaces; and a gym and spa.
