NEW YORK— Thompson Hotels has unveiled plans to build and operate a mixed hotel-residential property in downtown Manhattan to be called the Smyth. According to local press reports, the building will include 100 hotel rooms and 15 condominium apartments. The location is on Chambers Street in the Financial District which in the past few years has emerged as an up-and-coming residential neighborhood. Thompson Hotels is most well known in New York for its 60 Thompson Street Hotel in SoHo. The company also manages the Roosevelt Hotel In Los Angeles. The project is scheduled to open in late-2008. Development costs were not disclosed.
