NEW YORK According to a newspaper report, Thistle Hotels, which is negotiating the sale of three country house hotels, has pulled out of advanced discussions with the privately owned hotel company, Marston Hotels.
The hotels are located in Birmingham and the suburbs of London and are worth between #17 million and #25 million.
Such action gives rise to speculation that Thistle is once again the target of a takeover bid by either a major investment firm or a rival hotel company. A financial bidder, such as Nomura, which came close to acquiring the chain two years ago, is considered the more likely option. No comment has been made by Thistle Hotels. (11/22/00)
