DERBY, U.K.— The Resort Group has signed a management agreement with Hilton Worldwide to open an upscale Hilton Hotel in Praia, on Santiago Island, Cabo Verde.
The newly constructed Hilton Praia, expected to open in 2018, will offer 201 guestrooms and suites across 15 floors, and feature a business center, meetings and events facilities, and a fitness and spa with indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
“This project from The Resort Group, in the city of Praia, is of huge importance for the international prestige of our capital city, which will become part of the distinguished group of African and worldwide capital cities that have a Hilton-branded hotel.” stated Jose Maria Neves, president of the Cabo Verde Islands. “The presence of such a high-prestige brand will contribute to our international recognition as a diversified and quality destination.”
The hotel will be close to the city’s diplomatic quarters, governmental institutions, commercial, finance and residential areas, as well as the University of Cabo Verde.

The Resort Group recently opened its second resort in Cabo Verde, Dunas Beach Resort & Spa situated on Sal Island. Earlier in 2014, the group announced that over half a million visitors had visited its Tortuga Beach resort since it opened in 2011. A third resort on Sal, Llana Beach Hotel, is under construction.
