MALIBU, CA—Alex Glasscock, founder and CEO of The Ranch at Live Oak/Malibu has appointed Scully Cloete as general manager.
In this role, Cloete will oversee the daily operations of The Ranch including supervising and directing all department heads, assisting in management planning, organizing, staffing and directing of activities, creating and establishing budgets, and acting as the head of human resources. He will be responsible for 50 staff members and report directly to Glasscock.

Cloete has more than 15 years in the food and hospitality business, most recently as the GM of the Malibu Beach Inn Luxury Hotel here. Previously, he served as the GM and director of operations at The Regency Club of David Murdock. Prior to that, he held consulting positions with Casa del Mar Hotel, Saddle Peak Restaurant and Malibu Restaurants Chamber of Commerce, as well as GM positions with the Malibu Pier and the Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group.
Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, Cloete began his career in the sales, marketing and public relations departments of various international companies, including Nacshon Restaurant and Catering Company, Alfred Dunhill and the British Council.
