The Marcus Corp. Reports Strong Q2

MILWAUKEE The Marcus Corp. realized increases in both operating income and EBITDA in its results reported for the second quarter and six months ended November 23, 2000.

Total revenues for the second quarter of fiscal 2001 were $87.142 million, up 8.6% from total revenues of $80.244 million for the same period in the prior year. Operating income for the second quarter of fiscal 2001 was $10.244 million, up 4.0% from operating income of $9.854 million for the same period prior year. EBITDA was $20.671 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2001, a 4.8% increase from EBITDA of $19.730 million for the same period in the prior year.

Marcus Hotels & Resorts had an excellent quarter and contributed to the increase in revenues and operating income while Baymont Inns & Suites reported similar increases for the quarter despite a soft November. The Hotel Phillips in Kansas City, MO, closed during the second quarter for a complete renovation and restoration and is scheduled to reopen in summer 2001. (12/20/00)
