NEW YORK—The Gregory, a 132-room boutique hotel located at 42 West 35th St., is slated to open here this spring in the Garment District.
The Gregory is the second collaboration between Interstate Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Asset Value Enhancement (hotelAVE) and Meadow Partners, the team behind The Renwick, which is launching here this summer at 118 East 40th St.
The hotel first opened as The Gregorian in 1903 to cater to the overflow of guests checking into the original Waldorf-Astoria, its former sister property on 34th St. that is now the site of the Empire State Building.
Following a complete renovation, The Gregory will pay homage to its past while delivering a contemporary experience. New York-based design firm Bill Rooney Studio is handling the project, creating interiors with decor elements that channel the 1940s. Each guestroom will feature vintage-inspired accents.
“We are incredibly excited to expose future guests of The Gregory to a new, higher-energy New York City hotel, and the timing for its launch couldn’t be more perfect,” said General Manager Deborah Alarcon.
The Gregory’s interactive lobby space will be designed as a gathering place with clusters of seating areas adjacent to a fireplace. In the evening, the space will transform into a living room/library.
