OCALA, FL- HOTELBUSINESS. has learned that a new Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, is being built near Ohio State University by affiliates of Yankees principal owner, George Steinbrenner.
According to Don Steimle, president of the Steinbrenner Hotel Group, the hotel will consist of 163 rooms, as well as meeting space, a business library, fitness room, continental breakfast and indoor pool and spa. We re even looking at high-speed Internet access, depending on what Marriott allows, he added.
The hotel, for which ground will soon be broken, is expected to open in August 2001. It sits on the site of the former Parke University Hotel, in walking distance to Ohio State University s football stadium and the new Schottenstein Center.
