DENVER— Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. launched public-space upgrades worth $8.5 million at three of its metro Denver hotels this week. The renovations include a $1.5 million sprucing-up of the meeting space at downtown Denvers 430-room Westin Tabor Center. The hotels main and junior ballrooms as well as all meeting space will get new carpeting, wall coverings, banquet tables, chairs and art. The Westin Tabor Center upgrade is the third and final phase of a wholesale, $8 million hotel renovation that started a few years ago. Phase one involved redoing the propertys lobby level, and the second phase involved remodeling all rooms and suites, including bathrooms. The Tabor Center hotel, which is part of the Tabor Center office and retail complex, also recently added a gym called the WestinWORKOUT Room. The facility includes exercise machines and free weights, as well as DVD instruction for Pilates, yoga and spinning exercises. Starwoods Four Points by Sheraton Denver Southeast is getting a $6.5 million overhaul, including replacing all carpeting, wall treatments and lighting in the propertys 20,000 square feet of meeting space. The hotel also will get a new exterior paint job and landscaping plus resurfacing of the parking lot. The southeastern Four Points is located at Interstate 25 and East Hampden Avenue in Denver. The Four Points by Sheraton in Cherry Creek, located at Colorado Boulevard and Cherry Creek Drive, is spending $500,000 to upgrade its ballroom and meeting space. Those areas will get new carpeting, lighting, furniture and window treatments.
