CANCUN— While retaining the present tower building of its Cancun resort under the Sheraton brand, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide plans to demolish the propertys lower-rise resort building and replace it with villas carrying the Westin brand and intended for the vacation ownership market. The full name of the timeshare component will be the Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort. The project will be Cancuns first timeshare development and Starwood Vacation Ownerships first undertaking in Latin America. The first 66 of the 296 villas are scheduled to open in 2007.
