MEXICO CITY—Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. has debuted Las Alcobas, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Mexico City located in the heart of the Polanco district. The opening of Las Alcobas, owned by OPREM 390, brings Starwood’s total number of hotels in Latin America and the Caribbean to 94, with 15 additional hotels in the pipeline set to open by 2017.
A former residence, Las Alcobas features 35 guestrooms and suites designed by Yabu Pushelberg to reflect the cultural heritage of Mexico City and celebrate the city’s contemporary art and design. A dramatic spiral staircase anchors the hotel’s elegant lobby, while a series of intimate alcoves connotes a residential feel, according to the hotel.
Each guestroom and suite features handmade rugs and original artwork by contemporary Mexican artists, which complement the leather paneled walls and sleek wood detailing. Custom-crafted closets are featured in walk-in dressing areas, which feature tall three-way mirrors. Marble bathrooms are equipped with rain showers and whirlpool bathtubs. Two-bedroom suites and three penthouse suites offer wrap-around terraces with unobstructed views of Mexico City and the citrus groves below, while the presidential suite offers an indoor/outdoor fireplace.
Las Alcobas features signature restaurant Anatol, where Chef Justin Ermini offers a variety of international dishes. Dulce Patria, adjacent to the hotel and also owned and operated by OPREM 390, offers a menu designed by Chef Martha Ortiz.
In addition, Aurora Spa offers private treatment areas and locally inspired massage therapies. A 24-hour fitness center equipped with cardio and weight training equipment is also available. The hotel will also introduce the brand’s signature Luxury Collection Concierge service to all guests.
Las Alcobas, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Mexico City is located in walking distance to numerous luxury boutiques, art galleries and restaurants, and close to the city’s leading attractions, such as Auditorio Nacional, the Modern Art Museum and Avenida Presidente Masaryk.
The hotel is the first of two Las Alcobas properties to fly the Luxury Collection brand flag, and will be followed by the opening of Las Alcobas, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Napa Valley in 2016.
