Sokha Hotels & Resorts plans to operate a convention center in Siem Reap

SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA—Sokha Hotels & Resorts is set to operate a new 96,337-sq.-ft. Sokha Convention Center here, featuring state-of-the-art audiovisual and telecommunications technology.

Major conferences were predominantly held in Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap is now a real option to cater to international conventions, according to the company. The venue is adjacent to the new 770-room Sokha Siem Reap Resort, which is slated to open in September.

“Sokha Convention Center now opens Siem Reap to global MICE opportunities. The demand from ASEAN member counties can now be supported by a Halal Kitchen facility at the Convention Center. This new facility is what the market has been asking for,” said Leena Rajagopal, director of sales, Sokha Convention Center. “Siem Reap has the real potential to become the new MICE destination in Asia.”
