NEW YORK— The Luxury Institute’s 2007 Luxury Brand Status Index has ranked Small Luxury Hotels of the World as the most prestigious luxury hotel and resort brand. Ritz-Carlton and Peninsula were rated second and third in the index, respectively. The index is formed from surveys of 1,600 wealthy American consumers with an average income of $313,000 a year and an average net worth of $3.3 million. Other brands rated in the survey include, in alphabetical order, Fairmont, Four Seasons, InterContinental, JW Marriott, Le Meridien, Leading Hotels of the World, Loews, Mandarin Oriental, Orient Express, Park Hyatt, Regent, RockResorts, Rosewood, St. Regis, W Hotels and Waldorf-Astoria Collection.
