NEW YORK—Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) has added four boutique hotels to the SLH collection, a group of independently owned hotels around the world. The new additions include The Edison George Town in Penang, Malaysia; Hotel28 Myeongdong in Seoul, South Korea; LN Hotel Five in Guangzhou, China; and 1828 Smart Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Recently opened in July, The Edison George Town is SLH’s first hotel in Penang and joins eight other SLH hotels in Malaysia. The property has 35 rooms and suites built around a central courtyard. Originally built in 1902, the boutique property was formerly a mansion and features historic architectural details.

Hotel28 is a brand new boutique hotel and the first SLH property in South Korea, which opened its doors for the first time in July. The architecture of the hotel is modern and contemporary, with sharp lines and a glass facade featuring around 200 LED bulbs designed to look like a movie screen, according to the company.

Located on the banks of the Pearl River in Guangzhou, the LN Hotel Five Hotel sits right in the heart of the cultural district of the city. The 32 south-facing guestrooms were inspired by the traditional Chinese ‘Theory of Five Elements,’ which promotes the spirit of balance, harmony and inclusion, according to the company. All rooms come with tailored vintage furniture, a balcony with a view of the river and a smart tablet.

The 1828 Smart Hotel is situated in Buenos Aires’ Palermo district. There are 14 contemporary rooms with monochrome palettes and marble bathrooms. The ‘Smart Suite’ has its own balcony with outdoor jacuzzi. Guests receive their own tablets or smartphones for use during their stay, which enables them to adjust the air conditioning, order breakfast, make reservations and open the room’s curtains. The hotel houses a spa, with a massage room and a gym.
