NEW YORK— Many of the bath products on view here at the IH/M&RS this week show a shift to contemporary styling. As one manufacturer put it, there is a move in the hospitality industry away from the “standards” to more modern styles.

In the make-up and shaving mirror category as well as in lighting, Baci by Remcraft has been moving away from traditional finishes like chrome and brass to more contemporary finishes, including brushed nickel and oil-rubbed bronze. More decorative and “artsy” glass is also in demand, according to the company. Baci by Remcraft is showing its new Echo line of make-up and shaving mirrors.
New from the Erwyn Group is the Croscill Home line of bathroom accessories, which includes soap dishes, toothbrush holders, wastebaskets, tumblers, lotion bottles, tissue covers, cotton jars and more in an assortment of styles. For example, the Da Vinci collection in the Croscill Home line features porcelain forms with clean contours and crisp styling with the image of marble and granite textures resulting in the illusion of faux stone on ceramic. The Casino collection has tailored wood forms finished in a cherry stained veneer with elliptical and angular contours enhanced by nickel-plated metal components.
The Croscill Home line from Erywn also includes the Shoji and Global Fusion collections, both featuring designs using bamboo and other groupings.
The trend to update traditional looks will be evident at the Delta Faucet Co. booth at the show. For example, the company has rolled out the new Ellington Bath Series with a high arc, swivel spout design. The series includes several options to fit any sink style including a two-handle centerset with swivel spout, mini-widespread and widespread lavatory faucet. The series also includes matching three- and four-hole Roman tub fixtures.
Tub/shower options allow for consistent style in the bathroom. The series has a tub only, shower only or combined tub/shower selection with a matching showerhead to complement the updated style of the lavatory and Roman tub with handshower.
The Ellington bath line has three finish options including chrome, Brilliance stainless or matte chrome.
Toto USA, Inc. has its new high-tech Neorest 500 toilet at the show. The “aware” toilet features “smart sensor” design innovations, an integrated warm-water personal cleansing system and built-in deodorizer. The lid of the toilet automatically opens when a person approaches it and flushes and closes when the user walks away.
Toto is also showing a new console lavatory and one-piece toilet from its Lloyd Bath Collection. The maple wood and vitreous china lavatory stands 34 inches from floor to rim and has an 18-1/8-inch by 10-7/8-inch basin. The one-piece toilet has a squared tank which supports a generous lid that has been molded into a shelf to create space for toiletries or other items.
