NATIONAL REPORT—New construction projects abound in the U.S., including a dual-brand hotel on the waterfront, a dual-brand in a city known for its festivals, and more.

Dual-Brand Marriott Breaks Ground in Marina Del Rey, CA

R.D. Olson Construction commenced ground-up construction on a waterfront dual-brand Marriott hotel in Marina del Rey, CA. The project will include a Courtyard and Residence Inn by Marriott overlooking the harbor.

The Courtyard by Marriott, a five-story, 159-room building situated on the south side of the project site, will be designed for business travelers. The 129-room, six-story Residence Inn, situated on the north side of the project site, will cater to extended-stay guests. Offerings will include several room options, including large one-bedroom suites and penthouses.

The Courtyard and Residence Inn will share a lobby, waterfront restaurant and bar and a second-level outdoor terrace with views of the marina with a pool, cabanas and fireplace.

IHG-Hotel Indigo New-Build Slated for Coachella, CA

In California’s Coachella Valley, a dual-brand new-build will rise from the ground up after securing financing for its development. The IHG-Hotel Indigo will be operated by Highgate Hotels, providing a luxury hotel for the many festivals and events in Coachella and Palm Springs, CA.

The building represents an investment of $51 million to the area and is the first luxury hotel in Coachella, according to the company. Pace Equity funded approximately $7.9 million for the project, representing 15% of the total development cost.

Grand View Lodge’s $30M Expansion Includes Boutique Hotel

In Nisswa, MN, Grand View Lodge, Spa and Golf Resort is set to build a 60-room boutique hotel, bringing the total number of accommodations to 269 cottages, vacation homes, and hotel rooms, which can accommodate as many as 1,500 guests.

To be named North, the new hotel is designed by local architect, Nor-Son, which is based in nearby Brainerd, with interiors by Looney and Associates. The design is an urban take on the traditional guest lodge and a departure from the current cabin-style accommodations available at Grand View. There will also be a 5,000-sq. ft. conference room and breakfast area.

In addition, there are plans to add a new wedding chapel, recreation center and expanded spa facilities.
