PROVINCETOWN, MA—Following the opening of the Salt House Inn here, owners David Bowd and Kevin O’Shea have launched Salt Hotels, a new hotel brand looking to redefines the concept of a traditional bed and breakfast with a contemporary approach.
Focusing on smaller properties, Salt Hotels intends to integrate the design, amenities, technology and quality of a large urban boutique hotel with the personalized service, unique character and community connections of a bed and breakfast, according to the company.
“With the incredibly warm reception that Salt House Inn received, we are excited to dedicate that vision and ethos to an entire brand. Salt Hotels will offer guests more freedom and a more personalized relaxed experience. We will always focus on the values and amenities that seem to really matter to our guests, rather than on rules and unnecessary formalities,” stated Bowd, CEO/cofounder, Salt Hotels. “Judging the industry interest we have received in new development opportunities, it appears there is a void in the market which is generating strong demand for the type of property that Salt Hotels creates.”
The brand’s portfolio includes Salt House and the soon-to-open Eben House, with another property slated to open this summer. Additional projects under development are located in New York, Palm Springs, Los Angeles, Denver and London.
“Salt Hotels is a creative spin on a traditional hospitality product, born out of our business acumen and industry expertise. We love rethinking how traditional hotels are structured, marketed and sold,” noted O’Shea, creative director and cofounder, Salt Hotels. “As a brand, we are not afraid to take risks or approach common problems in new and unique ways, all backed by a combined expertise that delivers a solid, innovative product to our guests.”
The executives are targeting secondary markets currently underserved by design-led properties, as well as primary markets lacking “intimate accommodations that feel personal and exceptional.”
