MADRID, SPAIN—Room Mate Hotels, a Spanish hotel chain, will offer complimentary portable WiFi at all 19 hotels in 12 cities throughout Europe and the Americas with the launch of WiMate Total WiFi. Available in the brand’s Spanish hotels since 2014, the service will allow guests to access the Internet beyond the hotels’ walls without encountering data or roaming charges.
Guests can request WiMate Total WiFi during the online booking process on the Room Mate website, or at the hotels’ front desks on arrival. The WiMate Total WiFi mini router grants up to five devices including mobile phones, tablets and laptops, 100 MB of high speed Internet per day, anywhere in the city.
“Posting on social media, referencing mobile maps and sharing travel moments with family and friends has become a huge part of the travel experience,” said Kike Sarasola, founder and chairman of Room Mate Hotels. “We’re proud to be the first hotel group to offer free WiFi in not just our hotels but throughout entire cities so our guests can better enjoy their trips.”
WiMate Total WiFi will be available in seven markets including Miami and New York in the U.S., Mexico City in Mexico, and Amsterdam, Florence, Istanbul, Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Granada, Oviedo and Salamanca in Europe. Sarasola will launch 10 new hotels in the next 15 months, including a new North American flagship in New York City, and properties in Malaga, Milan, Istanbul, Rotterdam and Barcelona.
