MADRID, SPAIN—Room Mate Hotels, the international boutique hotel chain founded and directed by Kike Sarasola, is set to expand the brand to beach destinations.

Projects in the pipeline will add approximately 2,000 rooms in waterfront destinations to the chain’s expanding portfolio.

The chain is currently assessing projects and signing deals for beach destinations within Spain, including Ibiza, Majorca, the Canary Islands and Costa del Sol, as well as international destinations such as Mexico. Room Mate Hotels plans to open its first beach hotel in the summer of 2017.

Meanwhile, the hotel chain expects to end this year with an occupancy rate above 87% and more than approximately $70 million in turnover, according to the brand.

“Launching new hotels in beach destinations is one of Room Mate’s biggest initiatives for the coming years. With our city projects now consolidated, the launch of this new line addresses the many requests that we have received to bring the Room Mate Hotels concept to beach destinations,” said Kike Sarasola, president and founder of Room Mate Hotels. “We want to bring the essence of Room Mate to unique holiday spots, offering excellent locations, magnificent design and friendly service. We have always defined ourselves by being customer oriented and listening to our guests. The new beach line is a true reflection of this, and it will provide our ‘Room Mates’ with incredible new features that, though we cannot unveil them just yet, will take the guest experience to a new level.”

Amenities based on customer feedback will include breakfast until noon, free WiFi in the hotel as well as throughout the city and exclusive decor. The new beachfront hotels will also offer new features, including a wide array of leisure alternatives, bars, restaurants, beach clubs and rooftops.
