BARCELONA, SPAIN—Room Mate Hotels has opened a new location here to continue its European expansion, following the launch of three hotels in Italy and one in the Netherlands. This is its fifth hotel in Barcelona and brings the company’s worldwide portfolio to 22 properties.
Chilean interior designer Jaime Beriestain designed the Room Mate Gerard Hotel and kept with the building’s existing style, which is representative of Eixample, its neighborhood. He combined that with updated elements, art pieces, designer furniture and fine materials.
The 66-guestroom hotel is in proximity to Placa Catalunya, El Born and the Gothic Quarter. The hotel also has a gym, lobby bar, rooftop pool and sundeck, meeting rooms and complimentary WiFi.
Room Mate Hotels is a Spanish international chain founded in 2005.
