NEWPORT BEACH, CA—R.D. Olson Development has broken ground on its latest hotel development, the 204-room Residence Inn by Marriott Silicon Valley in San Carlos, CA. Construction is planned for completion in summer of 2017.

Located adjacent to the 101 Freeway and within two miles of Oracle’s headquarters, Residence Inn by Marriott Silicon Valley is located in an area that is home to 16 Fortune 500 companies, including Apple, Intel, Facebook and Google, and thousands of entrepreneurial startups, according to R.D. Olson Development.

“The San Carlos market has a unique need for extended-stay product. In fact, a large number of visitors to the area stay between seven nights and three months,” said Bob Olson, founder and CEO of R.D. Olson Development.

Residence Inn by Marriott Silicon Valley is designed around a theme that pays homage to the local area. According to the construction company, the use of a wooden open truss ceiling and real wood flooring in the lobby, paired with dark brick siding and finished millwork, creates a warehouse feel that speaks to the hotel’s Millennial-minded, tech-savvy clientele while remaining relaxing and authentic.

“The mix of natural materials, minimalist clean lines, and locally relevant art will give this property a vibe that feels genuine and comfortable,” said Sue Ellen Langford, VP of interiors at R.D. Olson Development.

The four-story, 148,596-sq.-ft. hotel is designed with an all-suite room mix that includes more than 500 beds, including king, queen and pullout couch configurations.
