Hotel Lutetia reopens its doors
Hotel Lutetia reopens its doors

INTERNATIONAL REPORT—In Europe, hotel properties are unveiling renovations that include updates to F&B, interior design, additional accommodations and more.

Paris Hotel Reopens With Renovations

Hotel Lutetia, a hotel of The Set located in the Left Bank, has completed a comprehensive update, which includes the design and interiors to F&B offerings and service. The property was closed four years ago for the restoration.

The hotel has 184 keys, spread over seven floors, including 47 suites. The number of accommodations was significantly reduced from the original 233, allowing for larger rooms. There are seven signature suites, including a two-bedroom presidential suite and two penthouse suites. The opening will also bring to light the Bar Joséphine, the Salon Saint-Germain, the Orangerie, a lounge and open-air courtyard—a new addition to the hotel and the Salon Crystal.

In September, the Lutetia Brasserie will be reopened. There’s also Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Center, a 7,500-sq.-ft. (700 sq.-m.) spa, which has six treatment rooms, a sauna, steam room, plunge pool, infinity edge Jacuzzi and fitness room.

Hyatt Centric Madrid Has New Spaces, Dining Options

Henry Chebaane, creative director of London studio Blue Sky Hospitality (BSH), blends art, heritage and culture to redesign the Hyatt Centric Madrid located in Gran Via.

The hotel includes “Ondas” (vibes), which is evident on the ground floor space inspired by radio stations, music halls and theaters of the Gran Via juxtaposing reception, lobby lounge and bar in the style of an open-plan performance stage complete with stepped seating, media studio and a selfie booth. The first floor is the hotel’s other social destination bringing together a meeting and event space, a central garden patio and an Iberian-Peruvian dining concept called “Hielo y Carbon” (Ice and Charcoal).

In addition to the interior design schemes, Chebaane has created site-specific art pieces evoking Madrid that can be followed throughout the building from the musical score on the custom corridor carpets to the wall prints in guestrooms and the sculptural light and sound tree in the lobby.

Hotel Savoy Intros New Suite in Florence, Italy

Hotel Savoy, a Rocco Forte Hotel has unveiled its new suite led by Olga Polizzi, director of design for Rocco Forte Hotels. The 1,600-sq.-ft. two-bedroom Duomo Presidential Suite occupies its own wing of Hotel Savoy, designed in a Florentine aesthetic accompanied by herringbone floors and large windows that allow natural light.

The suite is decorated with pieces commissioned by local artisans, including exclusively designed bronze tables and gold leaf mirrors by Il Bronzetto and Baroque-style art from Chelini Firenze’s workshop, combined with vintage knick-knacks handpicked at Florence’s Mercato dei Pulci. The predominantly turquoise color palette and wooded nature-themed sylvan wallpaper are accentuated by C&C Milano throw pillows.

The living room has bespoke bookcases from Castorina, filled with works by Italian authors. The residential-style suite also has a dining room with a private fully serviced bar, along with Carrara marble and mosaic-tiled bathrooms.
