SAO PAULO—Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group’s Radisson Red brand has penetrated Latin American markets for the first time with the opening of Radisson Red Campinas, a 185-guestroom property located outside of Brazil’s most populous city. Atlantica Hotels International will operate the property, which also operates the Radisson Blu, Radisson and Park Inn by Radisson in the country.
“The region is still a very dynamic place for the hospitality industry and after years of growth and development in the upper-upscale segment, the focus is now shifting to select-service concepts making RED an ideal fit,” Ken Greene, president of Americas at Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, told Hotel Business. “The Red brand also has a real focus on capturing the location within the property from local art to food and everything in between, so vibrant Latin American cities like Campinas are a natural fits.”
The property’s amenities include three event and games studios (which offer meeting space), a 24/7 fitness center on the 21st floor, complimentary WiFi, an outdoor swimming pool and a sauna.
Radisson Red Campinas also has on-site dining. ROD by Grainne’s, a restaurant with locally sourced and sustainable foods on the menu, is available in the hotel’s lobby.
The hotel group expects the continuation of new opportunities in the region, mainly due to its expanding brand presence in Latin America. “The response from our partners and developers in the region has been very positive and we are in advanced discussions for several projects in key cities, including Lima, Peru; Montevideo, Uruguay; and Bogota, Colombia,” he said.
