NATIONAL REPORT—Hotel openings on the East Coast include a Radisson in Atlanta and the world’s largest Candlewood Suites on Fort Gordon in Georgia, as well as new Four Points by Sheraton and Tru by Hilton properties.
Radisson Hotel Atlanta Airport
The new-build Radisson Hotel Atlanta Airport has opened in College Park, GA, near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and within a short drive to downtown Atlanta.
The property offers 143 guestrooms and suites featuring premium bedding, mini-fridges, smart TVs and access to room service. The hotel also has more than 2,500 sq. ft. of flexible event space, including an outdoor patio, and Kina’s restaurant and bar.
The hotel has begun implementing the Radisson Hotels Safety Protocol program, developed in partnership with SGS. This program is designed to ensure guest safety and peace of mind from check-in to checkout.
Candlewood Suites on Fort Gordon
Lendlease and IHG Army Hotels have opened the Candlewood Suites hotel on Fort Gordon in Georgia, the largest Candlewood Suites in the world. The hotel is the latest example of the collaboration between the U.S. Army, Lendlease and IHG Army Hotels, which has grown to a portfolio of hotels located in 40 U.S. military installations. It is the newest hotel developed under the Privatization of Army Lodging (PAL) program.
The 311-room hotel includes a variety of rooms with kitchenettes and amenities including complimentary breakfast, laundry facilities, a business center, a fitness center, a pool and BBQ area.
The Candlewood Suites on Fort Gordon also offers the Candlewood Cupboard, where guests can purchase items, and the Lending Locker, which enables guests to borrow household items and small appliances.
Four Points by Sheraton Boston Newton
The Four Points by Sheraton Boston Newton in Newton, MA, managed by Gulph Creek Hotels, has opened, offering 270 guestrooms and more than 6,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. Other amenities include The Tavern restaurant, a 24-hour fitness center, a business center, heated pool, free WiFi and the Best Brews program.
The hotel, previously the Crowne Plaza Newton, underwent a major renovation starting in October. The renovation included all guestrooms, meeting rooms, restaurant, lobby and public spaces. Some of the notable changes include larger bathrooms on the executive floors; high-speed Cat 6 wiring throughout to ensure a fast internet connection; a newly designed restaurant; and new bedding and furniture.
Four Points Boston Newton is roughly eight miles from Boston Logan Airport, and a short drive from Boston College, Boston University, Harvard University, MIT, Fenway Park, Faneuil Hall, Boston’s Seaport District and Boston Common.
Tru by Hilton Mooresville
The 120-room Tru by Hilton Mooresville in Mooresville, NC, developed and managed by Maya Hotels, has opened within the Langtree Lake Norman mixed-use development. It is Maya Hotels’ fourth hotel investment in Mooresville in the last 25 years, with a fifth hotel set for completion in the third quarter of this year.
Amenities include a fitness center; complimentary build-your-own Top It breakfast bar; a lobby with areas for guests to work, play games, eat and lounge; and the 24/7 Eat. & Sip. market.
