LONDON— Radisson Edwardian Hotels has completed the purchase of the five-star InterContinental May Fair London Hotel for US$181.5 million in a cash transaction, bringing the group’s total number of four- and five-star hotels in this U.K. metropolis to 11. The hotel— now operating as the five-star Radisson Edwardian May Fair Hotel— is located on Stratton Street in the heart of Mayfair. It was further noted planning consent has already been obtained to extend and refurbish the hotel, and undertaking involving the construction of a new six-floor wing of rooms and an eighth-floor extension (adding 80 rooms), as well as extending and improving the property’s existing conference and meetings facilities. Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels advised the sellers, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). It was similarly pointed out the acquisition of this 289-room facility will increase Radisson Edwardian’s London room-count to 2,300.
