NEWBURY, OH—Punderson Manor Lodge in Northeast Ohio’s Punderson State Park will reopen March 6 after a major renovation that included significant infrastructure enhancements.
Most of the initial projects at the historic lodge were behind the scenes, including installation of new electrical wiring and upgraded ventilation systems.
The lodge will undergo other enhancements throughout the year. Projects include new indoor and outdoor pools; extensive cabin renovations, including new furniture, flooring and wallcoverings; expansion of the lakefront boardwalk to the cabin area; and replacement of the Manor House exterior trim.
Renovation projects will be timed for minimal guest disruption.
“It has been nearly 60 years since the state of Ohio completed a major renovation of the Manor House Estate and four decades since the cabins were completed, so it was definitely time for this much-loved lodge to be modernized to enhance the guest experience,” stated Greg Woodland, general manager of Punderson Manor Lodge. “And while guests may not even notice this first round of infrastructure improvements, they will certainly see that these renovations—as well as those to come—in no way change the appeal of this distinctive getaway in the Northeast Ohio woods.”
The lodge is 35 minutes from Cleveland and just north of US-422. The lodge offers six rooms and one suite in the Manor House Estate, plus 24 rooms in the new wing along with 26 hillside and parkside cabins. Recreational offerings include an 18-hole championship golf course, disc golf course, tennis and basketball courts, geocaching, boating and fishing.
The lodge is managed by Xanterra Parks & Resorts and is open year ’round.
