Precor helps Hilton beef up facilities, program

Driven by guest demand, in 2006 Hilton Hotels partnered with Precor to launch Hilton Fitness by Precor at its properties.
“Health and wellness are extremely important to today’s travelers,” said Dave Horton, global head of the Hilton Hotels brand. “Providing a consistent, premium fitness program at our hotels around the world enables us to maintain guest loyalty and create a differentiating experience for them.”
Horton said many guests, particularly business travelers, wanted a fitness program that provided a workout space consistent with their local gyms and healthy menu options similar to what they are able to prepare when dining at home.
Whether franchised or managed, all hotels operate the fitness centers.
According to Horton, the facilities feature a range of premium cardiovascular, strength and core and balance equipment choices found in top health clubs and fitness facilities. The centers also offer Precor Cardio Theater Entertainment, which provides personal viewing screens on each cardiovascular machine.
There also are a variety of programs available, Horton noted. “Many of our hotels feature age-appropriate fitness programs that reflect their local culture and popular recreation activities. Leisure guests at our resorts in Hawaii, for example, can enjoy surf or stand-up paddling workouts.”
Horton added the chain’s fitness, product and innovation teams work together on enhancing and expanding the offerings as fitness needs change.
In terms of trends, Horton said, “Our guests request a consistent facility that enables them to get in a quick workout on state-of-the-art equipment that they are familiar with from workouts at their hometown gyms.”
