Paris, Nation’s Capital Inspires Reno of Sofitel in DC

WASHINGTON, DC—The Sofitel Washington DC. Lafayette Square, part of the AccorHotels hospitality group, has completed the renovation of its 237 guestrooms and meeting spaces led by the design team of CBT Boston, MA. The renovation celebrates the ties between Washington, DC, and Paris through design, color, fashion and history, according to the hotel.

“Our hotel has always been a luxurious addition to the Washington, DC, market, and this renovation reinforces our positioning,” said Mathieu Rivière, GM, Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square.

As guests enter the hotel they will notice an Art Deco aesthetic in shades of black and white with bold green accents inspired by the style of Paris in the 1920s. A prominent feature in the lobby, a tufted banquette, was inspired by the verdant gardens at the Palace of Versailles and the White House Green Room.

The Prestige Suites feature a lounge chair in the color of the White House Blue Room as well as a blue duvet inspired by the brilliant sparkle of the Hope Diamond once owned by Marie Antoinette and now displayed at the Smithsonian National History Museum. This color once inspired another figure of the Washington, DC, scene, Jacqueline Kennedy, whose presence is reflected in the bedroom mirror displaying one of her quotes and throughout the hotel with vintage fashion prints in the hallways, elevators and the hotel library.

Upgraded guestroom amenities include bedside and desk charging stations with USB port, adjustable reading lights, upgraded 55-in. high-definition television, new bath lighting, and Sofitel SoBed with white linens, pillows and feather mattress topper.
