Honlulu–Outrigger Enterprises Group has won the management contract for the Wyland Waikiki Hotel, expected to resume operations next month following renovation, according to published reports. Outrigger has reached agreement with WB-LCP Kuhio Owner LLC, an investment group led by Lodging Capital Partners of Chicago, to manage the reinvented hotel at 400 Royal Hawaiian Avenue. The hotel has more than 400 rooms and suites. “The Wyland Waikiki Hotel is a gem,” said Outrigger CEO David Carey. “The extensive renovation has created a unique boutique-style hotel with chic interiors inspired by the iconic artwork of world-renowned marine life artist Wyland.” The first artist-themed hotel in Hawaii involved Wyland in the design and he initially had a stake in the property but sold it soon after it became apparent that investors were interested in the concept. The Wyland Waikiki Hotel will operate as its own hotel brand within the Outrigger portfolio. “High guest satisfaction is a key driver of our commitment to the positioning of the Wyland Waikiki,” said Steve Kisielica, principal of Lodging Capital Partners, which took ownership of the hotel last July.
