WELLINGTON, New Zealand— Outrigger Hotels and Resorts said it hopes to operate as many as six hotels and resorts in New Zealand within three years, said the Associated Press. The move follows the group securing management rights to eight resorts in the Australian state of Queensland, said the report. The move would bring Outrigger, whose resorts are primarily in sun destinations, the opportunity to offer winter destinations such as the popular skiing center of Queenstown in the mountains of the nations South Island. Outriggers expansion into New Zealand also includes opening properties in the tourism centers of Rotorua, Christchurch and Auckland, said the report. It also plans to be operating 20 hotels across Australia within three years. Outrigger Hotels and Resorts and subsidiary Ohana Hotels and Resorts currently own or operate 46 hotels and resorts in the Pacific region.
