WASHINGTON, DC— Brett Orlando has been appointed general manager of the new Hotel Palomar here. The 335-room hotel is scheduled to open in early 2006. Orlando is currently overseeing pre-opening activities for the boutique hotel, located at 2121 P St., NW. He is responsible for the property’s personnel, business development and guest relations. A 10-year veteran of New York City’s boutique hotel arena, Orlando most recently served as the GM of the Royalton Hotel, owned by Morgans Hotel Group, LLC. In other experience he was general manager of the Maritime Hotel and also held management positions at the SoHo Grand and Tribeca Grand. Hotel Palomar Washington DC will be the seventh hotel opened by Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants in the nation’s capital. Kimpton currently operates 39 boutique hotels with restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.
