DALLAS—OpenKey has unveiled a special program that enables hotels nationwide to offer mobile key technology. The program provides hotels with new Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) lock upgrades at no cost as part of a bundle package with the REIT-backed smartphone technology company.
“We are very excited to offer such a unique program to hotels nationwide,” said Brian Shedd, OpenKey’s VP of sales and marketing. “Mobile key technology requires a BLE lock, and to date that has been the major hurdle for hotels to adopt the vastly improved guest experience of digital key.”
With the recent release of OpenKey Version 2.0 app, guests are able to manage their check-in, call the front desk directly, confirm their identity with an ID capture for security and send their estimated time of arrival (ETA) to the hotel.
“We want to bring the mobile key experience to hotel guests nationwide, and offering to offset the cost of upgrading hotel locks to BLE is the most actionable way we can think of to do that,” said TJ Person, OpenKey’s CEO.
Hotels with RFID locks purchased within the last five years will qualify for OpenKey’s upgrade lock program. These locks are capable of being upgraded with a BLE module without replacing the entire lock structure.
