BROOKLYN, NY—The New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge here in downtown Brooklyn has unveiled the first chapter of its $43 million renovation and reposition.

This month, the hotel celebrates the opening of new spaces: The Bar (Greatroom) and exclusive M Club Lounge. At The Bar, a curated menu provides a taste of the borough by showcasing local food purveyors and businesses—from Brooklyn Roasting Company to Brooklyn Winery, Ovenly and McClure’s pickles, among others.

The Bar, located off of the grand entrance, features a style that embodies local industrial chic reflective of its neighborhood, according to the hotel. Design details convey an urban edge with glass, metal, subway tiles and white marble tops. A focal point of the room is a piece of original metal artwork over the fireplace, in which Brooklyn neighborhood names appear. Adjacent to the space, a guarded wooden “gate” unlocks exclusive access to the new M Club Lounge, a signature feature of select Marriott Hotels created specifically for frequent Marriott Rewards members.

“As Brooklyn has transformed into an international social hub, it has become particularly appealing for foodies and culinary businesses, ranging from historic restaurants to buzz-worthy newcomers who have set up kitchens in the area,” said Sam Ibrahim, GM, New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. “Marriott hotels embrace their locations, and we are lucky to be situated in the center of downtown Brooklyn—at the heart of the action—so we can bring these experiences to our guests and act as a jumping-off point for the borough.”

“Our goal is to continue to grow: to immerse our guests into that unique and transformative ‘Brooklyn experience.’  The emphasis on local purveyors and unique offerings has elevated the dining scene in Brooklyn, and is another enticing draw for travelers and groups,” said Joshua Muss, owner of Muss Development and the hotel.

In addition to The Bar and M Club Lounge, the hotel’s Front Desk has been reimagined as part of the renovation. From concierge pods that welcome guests, to a large abstract mural based on a photograph of the Brooklyn Bridge, the contemporary look is modern and vibrant. The redesign of the hotel’s ballroom and meeting rooms, one of the city’s largest and most versatile venues, will be completed in September. Renovations of the hotel’s 667 guestrooms will be completed in 2016.

The New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge is located at 333 Adams St., steps away from MetroTech Center, Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill. The hotel features 667 rooms and suites, a fitness center, and more than 40,000 sq. ft. of banquet and meeting space.
