New Year Brings New Looks Via Renovations

Renovations are bringing a new look to The London Bar.

NATIONAL REPORT—The New Year will bring some new looks at a variety of hotels. In California, The London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills will debut an $11-million makeover in celebration of entering its second decade in 2018. Included in the renovation are a new London Bar and enhanced Boxwood restaurant created by Richmond International and a rooftop pool deck transformed by AKA Designs.

The redesign, slated to debut in January, includes enhanced meeting spaces and guestroom suites.

Commenting on the renovation, GM Jeff Kulek said, “We’re bringing new energy to the lobby with The London Bar and refreshed Boxwood restaurant. Along with the renovations to one of the most sought-after rooftops in L.A., these enhancements will perfectly position the hotel for its next decade and beyond.”

Denver Re-Do

Also in the West, Denver’s Hotel Teatro is underway with a $2-million renovation of its 110 guestrooms that it expects to have completed early next year.

The property, housed in a 1911 building, has remained open and operational throughout the process.

Drawing inspiration from the area, interior design and architecture firm Parker-Torres Design Inc. is updating the rooms to reflect a residential aesthetic. Highlights include custom-stained white oak cabinetry; gray fleece wall treatments; 50-in. flat-screen televisions; new furniture, including a custom chaise lounge, lounge chair, nightstands and coffee table; updated soft goods; new lighting; and contemporary artwork.

The hotel’s historic, 1400-sq.-ft. Chancellor’s Suite is receiving similar modern updates, as well as new leather sofas and a custom conference table. The large suite also features a limestone fireplace, wood-paneled walls and a separate living room.

“We’re committed to offering our guests an exceptional and truly Denver experience, and the newly upgraded guestrooms will continue to make our boutique hotel a destination for travelers seeking an upscale, modern experience within the city’s original boutique hotel,” said General Manager David Coonan.

In addition, furniture from the guestrooms that is being replaced will be donated to Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization that brings people together to build and furnish homes for those in need.

East Coast Reno

Newport, RI’s iconic Hotel Viking is kicking off a multiphase $11-million renovation slated to be completed in May. The historic 91-year-old hotel will unveil an extensive upgrade to its main lobby, all guestrooms and suites, the fitness area, signature restaurant One Bellevue, and Top of Newport rooftop bar.

All 208 guestrooms and 24 suites will feature ocean-inspired blue and white colors, accented by vintage furniture. The hallways, lobby and bar will be updated with a lighter color palette, new furniture and light fixtures, and the indoor pool deck will be refurbished to complement the hotel’s pool and fitness amenities.
