LOS ANGELES? A new W Hotel will be unveiled here next month in what is currently the Westwood Marquis Hotel and Gardens. The 16-floor W Los Angeles Westwood will have 258 suites offering views of the city and the Santa Monica Mountain range. Designer Dayna Lee and her firm, Powerstrip, and architect John Brouse collaborated on the project with the Starwood Design Group. The design includes a dramatic entrance with frosted glass steps revealing a fiber-optically-lit waterfall, giving guests the illusion of walking on water as they enter the hotel. Outside, two acres of landscaped gardens surround a large swimming pool with seasonal flowers and winding paths. To cater to the business traveler, guestrooms will feature the latest in communications and information technology with 15% of the rooms designated ?W Home Offices? offering printers, scanners, video cassette players, Internet access, three phone lines and large desks. Each guestroom has a 27-inch color television equipped with an in-room entertainment system, the ?W? bed with pillow-top mattress, 250 thread-count linens, and goose down comforters and pillows. Other signature W features will also be available for the guest including a snack and beverage bar, a coffeemaker with W?s own blend of coffee, a terry-lined pique W bathrobe and Aveda bath products. The W Los Angeles will have six conference rooms totaling over 6,500 square feet and a business center.
