CANCUN, MEXICO— Palace Resorts has opened a new luxury hotel here. Called Le Blanc Spa Resort, the hotel is an upscale, adults-only property. The resort features a contemporary minimalist-style décor accented with tropical and Mexican elements to create a stylish yet exotic ambiance, according to Roberto Chapur, president of Palace Resorts. He predicted that Le Blanc will attract the sophisticated traveler looking for a luxurious, all-inclusive vacation. Le Blanc Spa Resort was converted from the former Hotel Sierra Cancún, which was acquired by Palace Resorts and closed in August 2004 for a complete renovation. The refurbishment was directed by Elias & Elias Arquitectos, an architectural and interior design firm based in Mexico. The renovation transformed all guestrooms into luxury suites, most with ocean views and all with double Jacuzzis. A 29,000-square-foot spa, more than 10,000 square feet of meeting facilities and four specialty restaurants were added to the resort. Other features of Le Blanc Spa Resort include three outdoor pools, two of which are infinity pools complete with two swim-up bars; lighted tennis courts; and a fitness center.
