NEW YORK—Small Luxury Hotels of the World has introduced five new hotels to its collection of more than 520 hotels in 80 countries around the world.
New properties include Keemala in Phuket, Thailand; Mar Adentro Cabos in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico; Casa Colombo Collection in Mirissa, Sri Lanka; La Peschiera in Monopoli, Italy; and Ariana Sustainable Luxury Lodge in Cappadocia, Turkey.
In Thailand, Keemala’s 38 rooms aim to represent traditional Phuket culture based on the local tribes that originally inhabited the island. Accommodations include the Clay Pool Cottages inspired by the Pa-ta-pea ‘Earth’ clan, glass-fronted Tent Pool Villas (the Khon-Jorn ‘Wanderer’ clan) luxurious Tree Pool Villas (the We-Ha ‘Sky’ clan) and opulent Bird’s Nest Pool Villas (the Rung Nok ‘Nest’ clan). All rooms feature outdoor bathtubs and monsoon showers.
Sitting between the desert and the Sea of Cortez, Mar Adentro Cabos opened in mid-December and is a modern take on luxury designed by Miguel Angel Aragonés, according to the company. The 143 suites, which sleep up to eight people, appear to be suspended over water to look like islands. Onsite amenities include the state-of-the-art lounge cinema, Ligne St. Barth Spa in Latin America, private beach club and two oceanfront pools.
With just six rooms, the Casa Colombo Collection seeks to blend the rich wood detailing of authentic Sri Lankan interiors with contemporary and high-tech features. The rooms offer views of the Indian Ocean or private plunge pools. Cabanas are dotted around the resort and lit by torchlight after sunset.
A former fish hatchery turned luxury hotel, La Peschiera is a seaside retreat on Puglia’s shores. Celebrating the hotel’s oceanic backdrop, the 12 rooms offer views of the Adriatic and inside the minimalist interiors are dotted with antiques and original artwork.
Named after an ancient sun goddess, Turkey’s Ariana Lodge is a contemporary eco-boutique offering views of the Uchisar Valley. The lodge’s 11 rooms are named after deities from Babylon culture. Accommodations include a luxury cave suite, spa suite with mosaic-clad bathroom or views of the valley from the duplex suites.
