CHARLESTON, SC— Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. has signed an agreement with LTD Management Co. and Sree Hotels, LLC to develop an Aloft hotel here in this historic coastal city. Aloft is Starwood’s new select-service brand. The 140-room property, which will be named the Aloft Charleston Airport Hotel, is scheduled to open in 2008 and will be one of the brand’s first hotels to open its doors. In addition to the Charleston property, Aloft currently has three company-owned sites in various stages of development in Lexington, MA; Philadelphia; and San Francisco. Starwood anticipates the first Aloft hotels will open in early 2008 and that there will be 500 properties worldwide by 2012.
