COLUMBUS—Nathan R. Wood has been appointed as the director of sales and marketing of The Westin Columbus, located here.

Prior to joining The Westin Columbus, he served as director of sales and marketing of Sheraton Omaha in Nebraska. In his new position, Wood will oversee the sales staff and will be part of the executive team. He will focus on strategic revenue growth, adapt to market trends, cultivate new business and inspire and support his team.

Wood began his hospitality career in Kansas City in 2003. Throughout his time in Kansas, Wood worked in Sales and Marketing for Four Points, Sheraton and Hampton Inn & Suites. He served as the director of sales during the conversion of Clarion Kansas City Airport Hotel to Four Points by Sheraton Kansas City. Additionally, Wood was GM of a 139-room, all-suite property owned by Radisson. He moved to Nebraska in 2012 to work as director of sales & marketing at Sheraton Omaha.

Wood stated, “I am excited to join the Westin brand after many years with the Sheraton brand of Starwood Hotels. Our team will be celebrating the history of The Westin Columbus, formerly the Great Southern Hotel, as we begin our Westin refresh of the meeting space and lobby later this year. I am anxious to work with this great team and use the resources provided by Ultima Hospitality and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide to elevate the hotel and sales team to the next level.”
