ADELAIDE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA—The Mayfair Hotel opened here last month.
Located in a heritage-listed building, the hotel is near to Adelaide’s recently revitalized Riverbank Entertainment Precinct, encompassing the Botanic Gardens, Adelaide Zoo, revamped Adelaide Oval, convention center and festival center, as well as the recently renovated Rundle Mall shopping district.
The Mayfair Hotel’s historic 1930s facade is complemented by an extension deemed the “jewel-box.” Designed by Adelaide’s architects JPE Design Studio, the visual centerpiece strikes an aesthetic balance between the original Romanesque exterior and the modern-day vibrancy of the King William streetscape, according to the hotel. The hotel’s interior redesign is executed by Bates Smart.
Mayfair Hotel’s 170 guestrooms and suites feature exclusive custom-designed Mayfair beds, made locally in South Australia. Each room offers hand selected artworks and restored free-standing furniture pieces. Guests staying on the hotel’s executive floors can use the Hennessy Lounge and the rooftop Champagne Terrace. The hotel also offers meeting and function rooms, business center, gym and dining options.
The signature Mayflower Restaurant and Bar from Executive Chef Bethany Finn uses regional produce and locally sourced ingredients. A High Tea is also offered on the weekends. Other dining options include Mayflower Bar and Café 55, adjacent to the hotel lobby.
