SYRACUSE, NY—The Marriott Syracuse Downtown, formerly the Hotel Syracuse, has opened following a $76-million restoration.

Crescent Hotels & Resorts is managing the full-service property, which is the headquarters hotel of The Oncenter convention and entertainment venue.

“Bringing this hotel back to life was the goal of a committed group of stakeholders that included the city, county and state…as well as so many others who helped make this a reality,” said Ed Riley, owner and developer of the hotel.

“This has been such a special project for Crescent Hotels & Resorts and myself personally,” said Michael George, CEO of Crescent Hotels & Resorts.

The 261-room hotel has been restored or renovated to maintain its historic elements as well as offer guests the latest amenities. Terrazzo floors and 20-ft. columns are featured in the lobby along with a restored 1940s mural behind the front desk, refurbished 1924 chandeliers and furnishings by Harden and Stickley, both local companies.

Each guestroom and suite has been renovated and is furnished with Stickley furniture. Two of the hotel’s ballrooms have been restored to their original details; a third ballroom was modernized.

Crescent Hotels & Resorts’ culinary arm, Crescent Culinary, led the concept development, branding, design and operating plan of the dining outlets, including menu and recipe development for specialty foods and cocktails at several themed restaurants, incorporating many local products.
