Marriott Sees Continued Labor Crisis

DETROIT Think it s tough to find and retain good employees these days? Get used to it because, as J.W. Marriott Jr. sizes up the labor situation, the challenge of recruitment and retention of the best talent will be with us for at least another 10 15 years.

Sharing his views with members of the Detroit Economic Club here, the Marriott International chairman/CEO maintained that recruitment and retention was the most pressing challenge facing [all]American business today. Accordingly, he noted that it is imperative we offer our employees value beyond just compensation. (10/5/00)
