VIRGINIA BEACH, VA HOTEL BUSINESS. has learned that the Virginia Beach City Council has selected Professional Hospitality Resources to be the developer of an ocean front public-private project that will likely include a 300-room Marriott hotel, More than 3/4 of the necessary land has already been secured for the project, which will also include upscale retail shops and a parking facility for 600 cars. The project is pending approval for the plot that will be used for a parking garage. Mike Lorenzini, director of sales & marketing for Professional Hospitality Resources said that Marriott is the only flag the company is considering for the site, and he is confident that a deal will be inked as soon as all the necessary land is secured.

A spokesperson from Marriott commented, We are interested in pursuing the project, but there are several steps to be taken before it is approved. Kelly Wayne (8/25/00)
