LINCOLN, NE—Marcus Hotels & Resorts has completed an $11-million renovation of The Cornhusker, A Marriott Hotel, located here, which now includes new food and beverage concepts and Marriott signature elements.

Located just minutes from the historic Haymarket District and easy walking distance from the University of Nebraska campus, the hotel has undergone significant changes.

“Having been a part of the Lincoln community for nearly 90 years, we are extremely excited to present the newly refurbished Cornhusker Hotel to the Lincoln community and our guests,” said Bob Megazzini, general manager. “From the 27 meeting rooms to the elegant lobby and updated guestrooms, The Cornhusker will be the place for business travelers, social events, galas and weddings alike.”

The revitalized lobby emphasizes neutral colors that reflect Marriott’s design vision. The front desk offers backlit panels and dark wood accents. Floor-to-ceiling lobby windows now serve as a focal point, naturally lighting the lobby.

In addition to the significant lobby transformation, other property renovations include all 300 guestrooms, as well as 46,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. Guests can also enjoy complimentary high-speed Internet access, 32-in. flat-screen LCD TVs and work desks with ergonomic chairs. Ten suites were expanded to offer additional luxurious amenities, including a parlor, master bathroom and master closet.

Updates were also made to guestroom corridors, the indoor pool, and all elevators were reconfigured with modernized technology. The gift shop was relocated and now provides 24-hour availability of snacks and products to guests.

Marcus Hotels & Resorts and its affiliate, MCS Capital, acquired The Cornhusker hotel in September 2012 as part of a joint venture with a fund affiliate of LEM Capital of Philadelphia. Marcus Hotels & Resorts is the majority owner of the property.
