SAN FRANCISCO A strike by marble masons has slowed work at several high-profile construction sites around Northern California, including the Four Seasons Hotel on Market Street.

About 85 masons are picketing marble companies over pay issues, according to a spokesperson from the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsworkers Union.

The strike began Sept. 5 after negotiations with a federal mediator broke down. No further meetings have been scheduled. (9/15/00)
