SINGAPORE—M Social Singapore, a 293-room hotel situated along the Singapore River, has opened. M Social is part of an integrated development, which includes UP@Robertson Quay, a luxury apartment project developed by City Developments Limited.
French designer Philippe Starck envisioned M Social Singapore’s interiors to be an avant-garde laboratory: “M Social is where all the elements of the world, including creativity, humor and love, come together in an explosion of energy to create the joy of today’s and tomorrow’s world,” said Starck. “To me, it is a stage dedicated to creative people.”
Communal spaces feature fully customized art and design elements. Two bronze sculptures, designed to look like peanuts, and a giant cube mark the driveway. Occupying the reception area is a long high table that sits on an alabaster floor illuminated from the inside.
Front-of-house staff will be clad in uniforms from Uniqlo, the first time the Japanese fashion label is collaborating with a hospitality brand in the world, according to M Social. M Social Singapore is the first in the country to offer a self check-in kiosk in the lobby, according to the brand.
